Golden Age comics and the history of the medium are topics of great interest to the AC Comics editorial staff. While the major comic producers, Marvel and DC have done a laudable job preserving and maintaining much of the material they produced during comic''s formative years, what was to become of the output from smaller, or long-defunct comics publishers? Qualitatively, this work was often as good as, and sometimes better than that produced by the big companies. To fill that historical vacuum, Golden Age Greats was created- dedicated to preserving the best and most interesting stories and forgotten characters from comics'' Golden Age. This landmark first issue starts off with a bang, presenting Holyoke''s Cat-Man and Kitten, from Cat-Man Comics #29, 1945, facing off against their arch-nemesis Dr. Macabre, in “The Man Who Conquered Death!”, by the always-atmospheric Bob Fujitani; an untitled adventure of Chesler''s Rocketman, from Punch #10, rendered by Art Pinajian, Miss Victory checks in for an untitled Nina Albright-drawn story from a 1945 issue of Captain Aero, and not one but TWO sensational Mac Raboy illustrated Green Lama tales from his Spark Comics series, “The Green Lama Bombs Tokyo” and “The Riddle Of Toys”. Read these and see why Raboy''s Alex Raymond – influenced art was soon gracing the Flash Gordon newspaper strip. This first issue serves as somewhat of a bridge between AC''s original comics line and their historical reprint series, as all of the characters featured here were revived in AC''s Femforce monthly comic. Color cover by Bill Black and Mark Heike, interiors are black and white with graytones. 80 pages, 8″ X 81/2″, squarebound trade paperback format.
